[Live Review] THE GETAWAY PLAN (Central Coast)

Long Jetty Hotel, Central Coast
Saturday September 16, 2017

There’s nothing like seeing a band like The Getaway Plan perform at a small regional venue like the Long Jetty Hotel. By doing this, local acts that support the main act like RedHook and Stone Lions get a chance to broaden their audience. On September 16 they did just that and blew the venue away.

Having been to a number of gigs at the Long Jetty Hotel this particular one was busier than usual and there was a good crowd present from the beginning to watch the local support acts perform. With those strong sets over, The Getaway Plan graced the stage and played a perfect mix of new and old. Starting with their newer pieces from their 2015 and 2011 albums Dark Horses and Requiem they transitioned through the singles ‘Dark Horses’, ‘The Reckoning’ and even played ‘If the Suspense Doesn’t Kill Us, Something Else Will…’ from their inaugural 2006 record Hold Conversation. After this, the four-piece transitioned into a near full playthrough of their acclaimed 2008 release Other Voices, Other Rooms and finished with their best known single ‘Where the City Meets the Sea’.

The Getaway Plan were part of a movement that introduced a whole generation to alternative pop punk and their foray into regional performances was clearly welcomed by the warm audience that attended.
