Katy Steele made a triumphant return to the stage at Plan B Small Club for what was billed as a single launch but we were treated to a showcase of the entire new album, her debut Human out late October. The lead single ‘Where’s the Laughter’ sat snuggly amongst a solid set of rock/pop tracks belted out by the ex Little Birdy lead singer. Katy unleashed her unique voice with it’s ever strong vocal range on the crowd, who were soon captivated.

No sign of any back catalogue tracks from her prolific past, Katy Steele gave a strong, tight performance of her new material. As each song played out, her move to NYC 7 years ago shows Katy’s maturity as a songwriter. No sign of her trademark piano or guitar though but Steele’s band played an electric and sometimes quirky hour long set coupled with her strong stage presence and audience engagement.

Highlights included ‘Diamonds’, ‘Everywhere With You’ and ‘It Ain’t Me’
