Spectrum Now Big Top

Missy Higgins has established herself as one of our best female singer songwriters in the past 12 years. Closing the Big Top at this years Spectrum NOW she is an act that people flock to. Wearing a silk jumpsuit Missy opened her set with a solo acoustic rendition of ‘Don’t Ever’ before being joined on stage by her full band.
Confessing that it was the first time playing ‘All In My Head’ live, Higgins joked with the crowd to expect mistakes. There were a few offerings from her latest outing OZ namely crowd pleaser The Drones’ ‘Shark Fin Blues’. Missy declared Sydney as her second home, especially Bondi as her sister lives there. “What a beach! The best! And what about all the stupid good looking people?”
From love to heartache in four minutes with ‘Ten Days’ then “years later when it all when to shit”, ‘Peachy’. Momentarily in the wrong key she makes her way back in the adventure that is ‘This is How it Goes’. Remarking how hot it was in the Big Top and described it as swimming in an ocean of sweat. ‘Song for Sammy’ was dedicated to her 14 month old son Samuel Arrow Lee and there was even talk of poo, lots of it.
Missy’s latest track ‘Oh Canada’ is a charity single, a truly touching, emotional raw song. Ending the night on a high with ‘Steer’, the crowd cheered and sang along as ‘last orders’ were called and left the Big Top for another year with a spring in their step.
