[News] ANNOUNCING THE LAUNCH OF THE GROVE STUDIOS ACADEMY

The Grove Studios Academy, newly established and located in the grounds of picturesque The Grove Studios in Somersby – one of Australia’s leading recording studios – is proud to announce its official launch as a stand-alone registered training organisation (RTO).

To launch The Grove Studios Academy, the first Diploma of Music Industry (Sound Production) will begin on June 4, with Open Days being held on site on Saturday March 17 (11am-3pm) and Saturday April 28 (11am-3pm). The Open Days will feature live demos, studio tours and information booths.

If you’re considering a career in audio production, or wondering how you can influence the music industry, then a Diploma of Music Industry (Sound Production) or the Advanced Diploma of Music Industry (Sound Production) will give you the chance to spend a year studying in a working studio.

The environment is completely hands-on with class sizes deliberately kept small. All assessments are practical with no written exams, and the courses focus on all aspects of the audio industry including music, business management, freelance operation, live sound, electronic composition and sound to picture, tailored to meet individual student needs.

The courses are lead by Head Teacher, Chris Jackson, who has spent a decade as an audio engineer and nine years teaching audio degrees, while working in studios across Sydney. Jackson has worked with local and international artists including MMG, The Joel Jenkins Trio and Joel Sena.

Jackson said, “We have some unique courses operating at The Grove Studios Academy. We are focused on providing hands on training that is not only fun and engaging but is also industry relevant. Our main goal is to set students up with a foundation of knowledge which will allow them to thrive in any area of the audio industry and to drive their creative passions.

There are no pre-requisites and students will study in an operational studio alongside ARIA Award winning producers including Scott Horscroft (Music Producer and Studio Director), Burke Reid (Producer) and Andy Mak (Producer/Engineer/Songwriter), who in recent times have contributed to the careers of artists such as Courtney Barnett, The Presets, Vera Blue, DZ Deathrays and Alison Wonderland.

Horscroft said, “Launching the Grove Studios Academy means we can provide a hands-on teaching facility in audio engineering that guides students into their music industry career. Hopefully it also means that we’re educating the ARIA Award winning producers and world-class live sound engineers of the future!

Daniel Johns, Birds of Tokyo and Sarah Blasko are amongst a vast catalogue of Australian artists who have all recorded at The Grove Studios throughout its 30+ year history.

The Grove Studios are 55 minutes north of Sydney and is positioned within 25 acres of pristine Australian bushland.
