[News] BEST OF SYDNEY FILM FESTIVAL COMES TO NEWCASTLE

Steve-Coogan-Paul-Raymond-in-The-Look-Of-Love-2

The Travelling Film Festival (TFF) is bringing a premium slice of Sydney Film Festival (SFF) to Newcastle. Just five days after the close of SFF, TFF presents the best of SFF at Tower Cinemas 21-23 June showcasing a selection of pre-release and Australian premieres fresh from Sydney Film Festival.

The TFF 2013 line-up includes nine features from Portugal, Denmark, France, UK, USA, Indonesia, and Belgium taking audiences on a cinematic journey around the world featuring highlights from SFF’s Official Competition, Sounds on Screen, International Documentaries and Special Presentations at the State Theatre. Seven of the nine feature films will have their Australian premiere at the Sydney Film Festival then hit the highway north to present at Tower Cinemas. You can be the first to see these exclusive titles at TFF Newcastle.

Opening Night Gala will screen the titillating tragedy, The Look of Love – the true story of the ‘King of Soho’, Paul Raymond, who made a fortune ruling a nightclub, real-estate and porn empire. UK comedian Steve Coogan stars as Raymond and reunites with long-time collaborator director Michael Winterbottom (The Trip). The film screens with Australian short film The Chuck In and the films will be followed by the always popular after-party with complimentary drinks.

Other highlights include Michel Gondry’s (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) new film, Mood Indigo, starring Audrey Tautou (Amelie); eco-terrorist thriller The East starring Alexander Skarsgård (True Blood) and one of the most applauded films for this year’s international festival circuit, The Act of Killing. TFF Newcastle also features a 2012 SFF Official Competition selection – Tabu and the much anticipated Cannes-winning film from Denmark, The Hunt.

The Human Scale
This documentary charts Danish architect Jan Gehl’s mission to reclaim our public spaces, to throw out car-driven urban design and rebuild cities that suit pedestrians and cyclists.
