[News] THE INTERNET REVEALS HEADLINE EAST COAST DATES THIS JULY

The Internet

After enrapturing audiences on their debut sold out Australian tour, seductive R&B neo-soul outfit The Internet have announced they will return to Australia to play Splendour In The Grass, today adding two headline dates to the visit; Melbourne’s 170 Russell on Tuesday 26th July and Sydney’s Metro Theatre on Friday 29th July.

The LA-based collective, an offshoot of Odd Future, blends smooth soul and funk, with chugging drums and slinking bass lines overlaid by front-woman Syd the Kyd’s honeyed vocals.

Although they began as a duo, live, The Internet is a six-piece outfit that weaves “complicated drum, bass and guitar solos into honeyed vocal landscapes” – Music Feeds. “(The headline Sydney show) really was something special – Syd poured her saccharine voice into the bundled maze of vibrating instruments. They managed to do all this whilst shooting blasts of magnetic soul-energy into the unsuspecting audience”.

Ego Death, The Internet’s third album, was released in July last year to widespread acclaim, garnering a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary R&B Album. The band’s most evolved album to date, Ego Death features guest appearances from the likes of Janelle Monae, Vic Mensa and Tyler, the Creator.

The Internet will play anticipated festival sets around the world from May, taking in Sasquatch Music Festival, Bonnaroo and Fuji Rock Festival, before returning to our shores to continue their love affair with Australian audiences.
