hottest100-poster-900wd

Voting for triple j’s annual Hottest 100 is underway and this year the Brissy leg of Laneway falls on the day of the countdown (January 26). So we’re throwing a party inside the festival and inviting our mates!

Hosted by local pals Patience Hodgson (The Grates) and comedian/writer Mel Buttle, the Laneway Festival’s Hottest 100 Backyard Party will be held within the grounds of the festival at Brisbane Showgrounds. Come chill with Laneway grads Violent Soho, DZ Deathrays and others as they sign vinyl, chat to the hosts and help us count down the best songs of 2016 from start to finish.

There will be a live stream, shade, cocktails by the Bowery, BBQ served up by the folks at Crafted Q and heaps of vibe. With Laneway artists like D.D Dumbo, Glass Animals, Camp Cope, Julia Jacklin, Tash Sultana and Nick Murphy bound to make an appearance in the countdown (and fans set to shake things up with a campaign for A.B. Original’s protest song ‘January 26’), what better way to celebrate the world’s biggest musical democracy than at Laneway Festival in Brisbane. Come hang with us!

LANEWAY X SPINNING TOP

The Laneway Festival has long partnered with independent labels we love to present a dedicated stage at each festival. This year, our friends at Mistletone are handing the baton over to Spinning Top Records, WA icons and one of Australia’s most exciting independent record labels (Tame Impala, POND, Gum, Cameron Avery). Welcome to the family, Spinning Top.

Jodie Regan, label founder says: “All of us over here at Spinning Top HQ are beyond excited about hosting a stage at Laneway this year. We’ve always loved Laneway, and as most of our bands have played it over the years, they’ll all tell you it’s their favourite festival to play! It means a lot to us to take over from Mistletone and we’ll be sure to be flying the flag of so many incredible artists that will perform at the festival this year. Can’t wait to see you all there!

See performances from Floating Points (LIVE), A.B. Original, Car Seat Headrest, Nicholas Allbrook, White Lung, Fascinator, Luca Brasi and more at the Spinning Top stage in 2017.

MARKETS & VINYL

Curated by tastemakers in each location, our market stalls showcase the best inner-city designers and vintage finds. In Brisbane we’re welcoming back Suitcase Rummage, in Melbourne you’ll find Bend and Snap (the curators of 1000 £ Bend markets), beloved pop-up Dear Pluto in Sydney, and a mix of boutique stalls and vintage traders in Adelaide and Fremantle.

Local vinyl stores will be setting up shop in every state too! Vendors include the heroes from Jet Black Cat in Brisbane, Melbourne’s Polyester Records, Crackle and Pop Records in Adelaide, Sydney’s Red Eye Records and Mills Records in Freo.

More details on artists signings soon, stay tuned.
