[News] PAPER THIN ANNOUNCE EP LAUNCH

Newcastle four-piece Paper Thin have announced a massive hometown show to celebrate the release of the 2nd EP. Living With. Being Without. is set for release through Sydney DIY label Lost Boy Records on Wednesday, September 13th.

Paper Thin will be headlining the sidebar at The Cambridge Hotel on October 15th with a free entry show. The band handpicked their supports – both of which are part of the Lost Boy Records roster.

Melbourne’s Self Talk will be travelling up for the show. The two bands formed a tight bond in December 2016, when the embarked on their first national tour together. Since then, Self Talk have released their 2nd EP Almost Everything, with the singles being added to rotation on triple j Unearthed, and being spun on Home & Hosed and 2017 with Richard Kingsmill.

Opening the show will be fellow Newcastle band Safe Hands; who have been walking the boards of the Newcastle music scene for a decade – supporting everyone from PUP to Parkway Drive. The band have just released a Digital EP entitled Disenchanted, I’m Sure – the cover featuring a photo of Paper Thin’s Spencer Scott and lead singer Benjamin Louttit at The Hamilton Station Hotel’s infamous karaoke night.

Living With. Being Without. was recorded in May in the township of Paterson. Cramped into a granny flat, the band recorded with Matt Taylor (Safe Hands/Delta Lions) to create something that represented the band’s growth since their debut EP. Australian Guitar Magazine has already sung the EP’s praises, saying “Paper Thin dig into a wealth of gooey emo-punk perfection, fusing soft twangs and numbing riffs to shape compelling soundscapes worthy of every goosebump they elicit

For a band that is only a little over a year old, the Newcastle four-piece have hit the ground running. Their debut single ‘Hotel Spencer’ was spun on Short.Fast.Loud and Good Nights on triple j, and the band have supported scene heavyweights such as Japandroids [USA], The Levellers [UK], The Hard Aches, and Ceres.
