Sleeping With Sirens – wake up to hear the sound

Country of origin: Orlando, Florida

Members: Kellin, Gabe, Jack, Nick and Justin

Support or headline: Headline

Good crowd/bad crowd: goin’ crazy, having the time of their lives

Number of times seen band: 1

Crowd participation: Crowd was singing, screaming, dancing, swaying their hips and also swaying their arms in the air. What more do you want at a gig?

Genre: Rock and according to SWS’s facebook page, their genre is “Epic”

Rating: 9.5/10 guitars

My review: Lightshow was so awesome; let’s just hope there were no epileptics in the crowd… Song choices were very well picked out. I am so happy that the song ‘Congratulations’ was on the set list. Kellin, your voice is incredible.

Summary: Sleeping With Sirens (SWS) drive right to the core of the place inside that connects people through music. The band’s urgent anthems and earnest ballads communicate authentic, raw, transparent emotions through melody, a rhythmic punch and that intangible essence that makes one feel alive. Kellin Quinn’s intimate vocal revelations arrive drenched in a warm vulnerability that has stitched fans around the world, to the band. Guitarists Jack Fowler and Nick Martin, bassist Justin Hill and drummer Gabe Barham forge a vibrant collage via an instrumental backdrop; always in service to the song and the powerful audience connection their songs create. The band has sold over 720,000 albums. Great work boys, keep it up.. I had a top night.

Lower Than Atlantis – great, until a very low act of obscene crowd abuse: not great!

Country of origin: Watford, Hertfordshire, England

Members: Mike, Declan, Eddy and Ben

Support or headline: Support for Sleeping With Sirens (Florida)

Good crowd/bad crowd: crowd was good; a majority of the crowd knew every song, which would have been great for the band to see.

Number of times seen band: 1

Crowd participation: Everyone knew every song (as I stated above) but when Mike (lead singer) did 2 shoeys and no one had any alcohol and one of the workers did a thumbs down, meaning no one is drinking since it’s an all ages gig.. He said “aye, let’s start booing” and called them a c**t…. that’s definitely what you want at a gig, hey!! (Watch the ‘Love Someone Else’ video I took for the footage of the shoey and where it all goes pear shaped.)

Genre: Rock

Rating: 8/10 guitars (until things went pear shaped.. ending up at a 2/10 guitars)

My review: Good music. NEED to sing a lot louder OR turn the feed on the other instruments down a bit, could barely hear Mike. Stage presence was alright, they could move around more though

Summary: Hailing from the London satellite town of Watford, Lower Than Atlantis were formed in 2007 by Mike Duce (lead vocals, rhythm guitar) and Ben Sansom (lead guitar, backing vocals), whose shared love of bands such as Biffy Clyro, NOFX and Blink-182 would go on to inspire the group’s early sound. With the addition of full-time members Eddy Thrower (drums) and Declan Hart (bass), the band returned to the studio to record its sophomore release, 2011’s World Record. Taking on a more alternative rock sound inspired by the likes of the Foo Fighters and Jimmy Eat World, the album signalled the band’s continued evolution from hardcore punk to melodic indie rock. Signing to Island Records at the beginning of 2012, the band released its third album, Changing Tune, in October of that year. Two years later, after they parted ways with Island, they announced they had signed a new deal with Sony Music. Pushing their sound further away from the hardcore punk of their early days, they released their more arena-friendly self-titled fourth album in October of 2014. Their fifth album, Safe In Sound, which continued their rock sound, appeared in early 2017.

The Faim – Perth band have everything it takes to become Australia’s next global hit.

Country of origin: Perth, Australia

Members: Josh, Michael, Sean and Stephen

Support or headline: Support for Sleeping With Sirens (Florida)

Good crowd/bad crowd: loving the vibe, loving Josh’s voice (watch the videos I’ve posted so you get a taste of their music)

Number of times seen band: 1

Crowd participation: A lot of enthusiasm from everyone in the audience (whether it be; singing, dancing, screaming or just havin’ a little boogie)

Genre: Pop Punk

Rating: 9.5/10 guitars

My review: Love the songs, love your voices, lightshow was coooooooool. The Faim were the first band to perform and they did it justice, I was super proud of them.

Summary: With talent, looks, ambition and connections, an artist can go a long way. That special brew has taken The Faim to Los Angeles and, perhaps, the international rock world beckons. It’s early days for the Aussie pop-punk band, who’ve quietly assembled the machinery for the big haul. The talent earned the four-piece from Western Australia the support of a top shelf U.S. producer, John Feldmann. The ambition has landed an international deal with BMG, and the connections put the youngsters in the studio with the Pete Wentz and many other legends of rock, and snagged them a foothold in the L.A. music community. Before all of this, the Faim was just a bunch of friends from Perth – Josh Raven (lead vocals), Michael Bono (lead guitar, bass and vocals), Stephen Beerkens (bass and keyboard) and Sean Tighe (drums and percussion). The group came together in 2014 while still in high school. Originally called Small Town Heroes, they built their repertoire and played shows, and they aimed high. In 2017, armed with a demo and some desktop research, the group reached out to Feldman, the L.A.-based producer and songwriter behind hits by Blink 182, The Used, All Time Low, 5 Seconds of Summer and many more harder-edged bands. Feldmann liked what he heard. He wanted more, and got it. Congratulations boys on everything so far, you’re doing amazingly.
