Today, acclaimed Canadian electronic icons Caribou announce their long-awaited return to Australian shores with a string of shows hitting Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Sunshine Coast throughout December. Having already been announced as Saturday night headliners for the Meredith Music Festival, Caribou (aka Dan Snaith and pals) have now added a slew of east coast shows to their itinerary.

Tuesday, December 13 – Enmore Theatre, Sydney NSW

Caribou say of the highly-anticipated return, “We’ve been waiting so long to come down to Australia again – we’ve been planning this tour since early 2020 and we’ve always had amazing shows in Australia … but it’s been over 7 years since we’ve come down! We’ve been dying to do Meredith in particular for ages – Kieran (Four Tet) has been telling me we have to do it for years.

It’s the world-renowned dance act’s first Australian visit since 2015, and follows a European summer of major festival appearances including Glastonbury, Pukkelpop, Lowlands and more, plus upcoming slots at the Hollywood Bowl and NY’s Summer Sound Stage.

They continue, “We’re so excited about the show we’ve got ready for you – it’s the same full production audiovisual feast that we’ve been melting minds with at European festivals. We’re so thrilled to finally get to play it for amazing Australian audience.

This tour will see the band performing in support of their 2020 album, Suddenly. Bursting with warmth and Caribou’s trademark technicolour, the album received widespread acclaim upon release from Pitchfork, The Guardian, NME and Stereogum. Featuring nu-soul classic ‘Home’ and house anthem ‘Never Come Back’, the album landed on numerous year-end lists and saw Caribou’s global following reach even greater heights.

On their previous visit seven years ago, Caribou were riding the crest of a wave born of the album Our Love and single ‘Can’t Do Without You’ which dominated clubs, parties, TV shows and advertising that summer, and saw the multi-instrumentalists headlining the electronica stage of the Laneway Festival. In 2015, they were the first contemporary dance act to both perform and sell out the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House. Their 2010 album, Swim saw the group achieve breakout success with underground hits ‘Odezza’ and ‘Sun’ and was named the Best Album of 2010 by Resident Advisor. Elsewhere in recent years, Dan Snaith has also released a slew of dancefloor heavers via his side-moniker, Daphni, including Summer 2019’s Sizzling EP.

Don’t miss your chance to catch one of dance music’s most revered live acts in the flesh as Caribou make their long-awaited return to Australia this December.
