[News] CARLY RAE JEPSEN ANNOUNCES MEMPHIS LK AS SPECIAL GUEST ON AUSTRALIAN TOUR THIS MARCH

Carly Rae Jepsen’s hotly anticipated The So Nice Tour lands in Australia next month, taking in two nights at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre and Melbourne’s Forum, plus a stop at Brisbane’s The Tivoli.

Today, local pop act Memphis LK has been announced as the national support, set to join Jepsen on all upcoming Australian dates.

One of Australia’s most exciting emerging pop acts, Memphis LK’s sonic world is pop perfection fuelled by the energy of underground dancefloors. With support from triple j – including as an Unearthed Feature Artist – Memphis LK’s star has been steadily on the rise over the past couple of years.

Teaching herself to make beats, Memphis’ DIY ethic sees her writing and producing all her music from her bedroom. With her recent song ‘Coffee’ closing in on triple j’s Top 10 Most Played songs and vibrant new single ‘Too Much Fun’, Memphis LK is becoming a firm favourite across Australian airwaves. She’s taken on stages at Splendour in the Grass and more, and is gearing up to set East Coast venues alight when she hits the road with Carly Rae Jepsen this March.

Grammy, Juno and Polaris Prize-nominated singer-songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen reveals she will return to Australia in March 2023 to play headline East Coast dates. Jepsen will visit Australia for the first time since 2019 when she quickly sold out all shows, delivering performances around the country that were described as ‘pure, relentless joy’ by Junkee, Sydney Morning Herald writing, ’Jepsen’s pure pop puts fans in a frenzy.’

She lands down under on the back of extensive North American, UK and European dates for The So Nice Tour.

With her infectious single ‘Talking To Yourself’ – the third track from her hugely anticipated just-released new album The Loneliest Time (Interscope Records/Universal Music Australia) – Jepsen returns to synth-tinged sonics. Rolling Stone calls it an ‘upbeat, ’80s-tinged dance-pop anthem’ underpinned by a ‘characteristically addictive bass line and an earworm chorus’ (Consequence).

Earlier this month, she followed up with the sparkling, disco inspired title track – a dynamic duet with renowned singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright. In the accompanying music video, Jepsen and Wainwright travel into a cosmic landscape, complete with a piano, glittering outfits and dance numbers.

Her most introspective body of work to date, The Loneliest Time expands on the emotionally potent song writing and effervescent sound that Jepsen has showcased on past work like 2015’s critically lauded and culture-shaping E*MO*TION.

A major creative milestone for Jepsen, E*MO*TION inspired in-depth analysis from cultural critics and landed on multiple year-end Best Of lists from the likes of Pitchfork, Stereogum, Noisey, NPR, and many more. Released in 2019, her follow-up album Dedicated covered even more musical ground. The Atlantic called the album ‘brilliant’ with its ’godlike bops’. She returned the following May with a gift for her fans: Dedicated Side B, a buoyant set of dance-floor tunes that affirmed her status as pop’s undefeatable ambassador of love.

Come and revel in the pure, feel-good joy of Carly Rae Jepsen, when she returns to Australia in March 2023.
