Slowly but surely we start to imagine a world of international musical treats. We are very excited to announce this pairing of excellent souls on the one stage to set 2022 cruising in the right direction. This is a rare chance to see not one but two of the very best young American singer-songwriters together on the one bill.
Old friend Courtney Marie Andrews, on her first ever headline tour of Oz, has shone here before supporting first Sam Outlaw, then Joe Pug. She’s been through some big life changes since we last saw her, and you can hear about that on her latest album Old Flowers, which the NME described as “devastatingly intimate and open-hearted“, “meditative” and “exquisite“, and which Rolling Stone said brought “to mind classic Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell.” Old Flowers, which also received a 5-star review in the London Times, continued Courtney’s international ascent which begun in 2016 with Honest Life and which took a further step with May Your Kindness Remain in 2018. 2021 has also seen the publication of Courtney’s first book of poetry, Old Monarch.
Joining her will be first time visitor, Nashville-raised Erin Rae, who arrives just weeks after the release of her highly-anticipated second album Putting on Airs. Recorded by Cosmic Country polymath Jonathan Wilson in the musically hallowed grounds of California’s Topanga Canyon, the album see Erin embracing more of her influences, like baroque-pop and indie-folk while mirroring a more compassionate self-view she calls “accepting my humanness”. Erin has been hangin’ to get down and we know there are a lot of people very excited to share some time with her sweet tone.
