A decade on from the Academy Award-winning phenomenon ‘Falling Slowly’, The Frames and The Swell Season singer Glen Hansard returns to the Opera House with his ten-piece band including piano, strings and brass section for an evening of acoustic confessionals and intimate storytelling. Following two legendary shows featuring surprise sing-a-longs and audience duets, Hansard makes his third appearance on the Concert Hall stage for a career-spanning performance, including songs from the Grammy-nominated Didn’t He Ramble.

A veteran singer-songwriter exploring Irish traditionals, fireside folk and brooding chamber rock, Hansard has travelled through fame, fortune, depression and tragedy to become one of Ireland’s most renowned voices. Ever-evolving with new collaborations alongside Iron & Wine, Sam Amidon, Thomas Bartlett (The National / Sufjan Stevens) and producer David Oldhum (ex-Frames), Didn’t He Ramble sees the 46-year-old experiment with blues and soul on a globe-hopping journey through New York, Dublin, Chicago and rural France.

A restless spirit that has moved on from the universal success of Once, Hansard remains rooted in his busking beginnings for new inspirations – from Christmas howls on his annual street carols to opening sets for his friend Eddie Vedder for the raw thrill. Following on from last year’s Frames retrospective Longitude, Glen Hansard will stretch out with an expanded band featuring strings and brass to re-work favourites, rarities, and perhaps some new surprises from the rough-hewn Dubliner.
