The Hoodoo Gurus 40th Anniversary Tour with very special guests The Dandy Warhols has been postponed.

Hoodoo Gurus drummer, Nik Rieth tested positive to COVID-19 on Wednesday 30 March and is now self-isolating. With the band rehearsing together for the tour up until when Nik first experienced COVID symptoms, as a precaution and before The Dandy Warhols depart for Australia, for everyone’s safety the decision has been made to regrettably postpone the tour with rescheduled dates to be announced soon.

All existing ticketholders will be notified of rescheduled dates via official ticketing agency and need not take action: original purchases will be valid for the rescheduled date without the need for exchange. We encourage you to #keepyourtickets

Despite COVID-19, Hoodoo Gurus have had a busy year and they have one last single up their sleeves before 2021 is done – ‘Carry On’ – released on all streaming services, online music retailers and vinyl (yes, a 7” vinyl single!!!) today. ‘Carry On’ was written just before COVID-19 came over the horizon but the song’s theme of pushing forward through difficulties became even more resonant during the long lockdowns. ‘Carry On’ is an anthem celebrating resilience and tenacity. Damn the torpedoes!

Hoodoo Gurus are also excited to announce show openers on the  upcoming 40th Anniversary Tour in April 2022. Opening proceedings in Sydney will be The Buoys, Even in Adelaide and Melbourne and Rinehearts in Perth. Very special guests The Dandy Warhols will be joining on all shows.

Due to the uncertainty around border closures and current COVID restrictions across and into Australia, Hoodoo Gurus upcoming December 40th Anniversary Tour will be rescheduled for April 2022, including the addition of a Hobart show.

Let’s face it, folks – 2021 is a write-off. We had high hopes earlier in the year that the pandemic would be behind us by now but… well, you know as well as I do. Delta skelter!, dashed hopes, spilt milk, whatever, we won’t let it break us. Stay strong, stay safe and stay put – we’ll get everything back on track in 2022. As the song says, all the good times we had we’ll have again. Believe it.” Dave Faulkner

Legendary Australian rock group Hoodoo Gurus return to stages across Australia this December. The announcement celebrates Hoodoo Gurus 40th Anniversary since their first live show in 1981 plus the release of their new single ‘World Of Pain’. With special guests, iconic US indie-darlings, The Dandy Warhols, on the bill, this is a stellar line-up you won’t want to miss.

Thursday 9 December | Adelaide Entertainment Centre Theatre | Adelaide, SA
Saturday 11 December | Belvoir Homestead & Amphitheatre | Perth, WA

New single ‘World of Pain’ is another hard-hitting new Gurus single and a perfect follow up to last year’s freshly-minted Gurus classics ‘Hung Out to Dry’ and ‘Get Out Of Dodge’. Dave Faulkner describes ‘World Of Pain’ as “a combination of glitzy glam rock and dirty barroom blues. It has a swagger and a cocky attitude, although the song’s narrator is clearly having a very bad night. The poor sap – he thinks he’s having fun!”

The Gurus’ special guests for the anniversary tour The Dandy Warhols hail from the US and are known worldwide for mega hits like ‘Bohemian Like You’ and pop culture classic, ‘We Used To Be Friends’. The band recently celebrated their own 25th anniversary in 2019. From countless global tours, to playing to over 100,000 punters at the 2000 Glastonbury Festival and even taking to the stage during the Greek riots, the Warhols are no stranger to putting on a show. With one hell of a back catalogue and a live presence that has stood the test of time, this pairing of forces is one you don’t want to miss.
