To celebrate, the next official single from ILUKA’s incredible debut album Queen of Turbulent Hearts has been revealed. ‘Crazy’ is a song ILUKA wrote as a dig to the tiresome trope of calling women ‘crazy’. “I guess it’s poking fun at it really – it’s my way of claiming the word back,” she declared.

Queen of Turbulent Hearts is a triumphant pop album. The collection of 10 songs from ILUKA’s pen showcases an artist with a style and talent that’s unique and unlike any of her contemporaries. It’s an album of pop music with a soul and purpose. It’s brimming with emotive songs that not only show ILUKA’s talent as a songwriter, but also as a world class vocalist who sweeps you up and takes you into the song to feel what she feels. Her songs can be inspirational (‘The Limit’), painfully raw (‘Hercules’), honest (‘A Beautiful Undone’) and defiant (‘Willing to Break’). But most often ILUKA’s songs contain optimism and hope.

This record is a culmination of the messy, strange, turbulent but beautiful journey I’ve been on as an artist,” ILUKA said on creating the album. “It’s about coming to terms with the unconventional and the elusive. It’s about throwing yourself into the dizzying wave of life even when you get burned and spat back out, time and time again. It’s about falling out of love only to fall back into it. It’s about the brokenness and the heartache and the longing and the fragility of it all. When everything around us these past few years has felt so suffocating and hopeless, I think this record is my attempt of slicing a knife through the numbness. It’s about finding the pulse again. It’s a celebration of the wondrous peculiarity of it all, and always leaning towards hope,” she concluded.

ILUKA’s performances on Lime Cordiale’s tour saw fans arrive early to ensure they caught her performance. Louis Leimbach from Lime joined ILUKA on ‘Mess’ which sent the crowd into rapture. “It was a dream getting to share the stage with the Lime boys, especially getting to sing ‘Mess’ together. Seeing the crowd singing along to all the words was a trip!” ILUKA said of the shows.

‘Queen of Turbulent Hearts’ East Coast Tour starts in Melbourne on Friday 17th June at Yah Yah’s, Friday 24th June at The Vanguard in Sydney and Saturday 25th June in Brisbane at O’Skulligans.
