[News] MAIDS RELEASE NEW SINGLE ‘GIRL POWER’ & ANNOUNCE EAST COAST TOUR DATES

Maids

Newcastle’s finest and heaviest exponents of quirky power pop are back with their new single ‘Girl Power’.

‘Girl Power’ finds MAIDS continue steadily on their path of pop convention destruction, combining elements of metal, doom, 60’s rock and Katy Perry inspired melodies.

Written, recorded and mixed by drummer/lead vocalist Sean Cook, the song is a tongue in cheek statement about misogyny in pop culture, with a serious message amongst the trademark down-tuned riffs the band is renowned for.

According to Cook, “It’s a story about a girl rejecting a man harassing her in a nightclub… I wanted to poke fun at the sleazy nature of a lot of men”.

With a critically acclaimed EP and a string of singles behind them, MAIDS are moving full steam ahead to lead the pack of emerging acts coming from Newcastle’s rejuvenated rock scene.

Catch them on the Girl Power Tour this April to discover why those in the know refer to them as one of the most exciting live acts in the country.
