Following the critical success of his sophomore album Armwrestling Atlas, Mathas begins 2016 with the release of his latest single ‘Bravo Troll’. The single continues Mathas’ exploration of the world around him, written on a 1979 Yamaha Electone C-35 Organ and recorded through a single stage microphone; ‘Bravo Troll’ explores the folklore of the troll.

As Mathas’ explains: “Once upon a time the Troll would hide under the bridge and threaten you on your way to the greener grass on the other side. Little has changed, only nowadays his intentions are a little less obvious.”

Following the release of ‘Bravo Troll’, Mathas will embark on his largest national tour to date, including performances at the Wide Open Space Festival, NT and Big Pineapple Music Festival, QLD. Set for late April, the shows will see Mathas take his renowned live performances to a new level, touring with his new three-piece live band for the first time.

Mathas has continued to stockpile accolades and critical acclaim. Armwrestling Atlas was awarded four stars from Rolling Stone Australia and The Brag, as well as being nominated for the Australian Music Prize long list (2015). Mathas was the first ever urban or electronic artist to win the WA Music Industry’s coveted Song of the Year Grand Prize with the song ‘Nourishment’, which also featured in Triple J presenter Dom Alessio’s Top 10 tracks of 2013. Mathas won consecutive WAMI Awards for Urban Act of the Year in 2012, 2013 and 2014. ‘Stone Cold Sober’ won ‘Best Film Clip’ at the WA Screen Awards, 2015.

Out 30th March, ‘Bravo Troll’ is the first single off Mathas’ Gripes with the Human Mind EP set for release in late 2016.
