Following the release of her 2016 critically acclaimed sophomore album Deep Dark Savage Heart, Melody Pool is set to perform her lyrics, propelled by heartache to Australian audiences this September and October. She will be joined by Peter Bibby, who after performing at the likes of Laneway Festival and SXSW will be bookending the last two years touring his debut album, Butcher/Hairstylist/Beautician. These songwriters will play a string of dates across the country, offering an evening of music that makes no apologies and tells it like it is.
Recorded in Nashville, Deep Dark Savage Heart features the single ‘Love, She Loves Me’ and follows Pool’s 2013 debut, The Hurting Scene, which The Australian declared Album of the Year, and “one of the most accomplished debuts by an Australian singer-songwriter for many years”. Pool has supported the likes of the Eagles and toured both Australia and Europe extensively.
Peter Bibby has become known for reinventing the Australian ballad. Clad with a new collection of self-indulgent songs about girls, chairs, and all the other emotional crash-bangs of a twenty-something year old, Bibby will showcase his ramblings about cigarettes at train stations, hypochondria and sleepovers. The video for his single ‘Hates My Boozing’ has been viewed almost 40,000 times.
Melody’s similar knack for singing the truth (with a healthy dose of profanities) make for a serendipitous yet cognate musical pairing.
