[News] MICK THOMAS RESCHEDULES NATIONAL ‘OUT AND ABOUT’ TOUR

Mick and the Roving Commission haven’t spent the year idle. Apart from releasing a brilliant covers record City’s Calling Me (fully conceived and constructed in isolation – along with a couple of film clips), they have been valiantly planning tours, cancelling tours, occasionally getting to do some gigs, moving shows, doing streams and selling merchandise for tours that didn’t happen. Mick is one guy you do not want to get stuck behind in the queue at the post office.

With Melbourne’s lockdown restrictions eased, things start getting back to some sort of normaity for Mick and gang when they play a couple of Christmas shows (as he has done the past thirty years), and then a big day out at Archie’s Creek on New Year’s Day.

And then it’s on in earnest, with the majority of interstate and regional shows from their July tour having been catapulted into 2022.

Following the rescheduling of their ACT/NSW dates a couple of weeks ago and the low-key debut of their new line-up at an instore at Basement Discs (Melbourne-based singer-songwriter Brooke Taylor is the new member), Mick Thomas’ Roving Commission have been forced to reschedule the Queensland leg for their upcoming Out & About tour.

With ACT/NSW and now QLD dates bumped to December, the tour will now start July 15 in Adelaide. Existing tickets for the rescheduled shows remain valid, or ticketholders can arrange for a refund at point of purchase.

As of now, all other shows will proceed as planned, although some are being reassessed in regards to capacities as restrictions change.

The new run is as follows:

City’s Calling Me is the brand new album from Mick Thomas’ Roving Commission, and nothing is going to stop them getting around the country to play to people who have been hanging out for fine live music all year. Sure the Bluesfest cancellation was a kick in the guts but it only served to make the honest troubadours of this world more resolute there is work to be done and shows to be played.

Squeezebox Wally – check, Brooke Rusty Russell – check, Franz on bass? Folley on the tubs? Check! Check! It’s the full line-up of the Roving Commission and they are raring to go. Time to get Out and About folks!
