[News] OUT OF NEWCASTLE COMES ‘WHERE THE DEVIL’

As one of Newcastle, Australia’s freshest exports, Where The Devil, is a five-piece with decades of collective experience and deep roots in the local scene.

With a line-up fronted by Ben Pennifold (formally Undermine) and completed by Kim Abbott (Zombonimo), Rachel McGuire (Undermine/Twin Psyche), Ben Hosking (Renewal/shank’D) and Rob Carstein (Tractor/Jadick6), Where The Devil aims to deliver crushing, down-tuned grooves that mix contemporary stylings with undeniable and unapologetic nineties and noughts influences.

2020 will be the ‘Year of the Devil’, with multiple single releases beginning with the five-minute blast of fury that is ‘Beast’ (released March 20) – singer Ben Pennifold’s vitriol practically spit onto the track, supported by bruising palm-muted riffle and a healthy dose of pinch harmonies.

The band’s debut show is taking place on April 3 at the Hamilton Station Hotel, Newcastle, supporting fellow Newcastle band, Take My Soul, closely followed by a performance at the Newcastle Hotel on April 4, supporting Central Coast up-and-comers, The Witching Hour, who have been enjoying some time on top of the Triple J Unearthed charts.
