[News] SPIDERBAIT RELEASE ‘SOUNDS IN THE KEY OF J’, ANNOUNCE NATIONAL TOUR

Australian rock royalty Spiderbait are back with their first album in 9 years, called Sounds In The Key Of J. They’ve also just released the music video for new single ‘My Car’s A UFO’.

The album celebrates the legacy of their pioneering bassist and singer, Janet English. Alongside the album launch, the band have announced the national The Key of J winter tour, a run of unique and special shows dedicated entirely to celebrating the new album.

Kram said that the idea behind this record was pretty simple: create a collection of all the unique and f***** awesome songs Janet’s written. In response, Janet said “Kram was going on about the compilation idea – and initially, I said ‘hell no’. I kinda said ‘OK’ to shut him up… And here we are!

Kram went on: “One of my favourite things about this record is hearing all of Janet’s songs back-to-back; it gives them a new continuity, and almost creates a solo album that exists within the context of the band. Even though it’s a compilation of old material, this is one of my favourite Spiderbait records.

“It was really moving for me to hear the whole album once the order was finalised. There are so many different sounds and spaces… Listening to all of that, plus her beautiful voice, I heard so much of the past as if it were present. It’s like listening to a musical diary of one of my dearest friends and collaborators. This is for her.
