[News] SUNNYBOYS TO PLAY ONE NIGHT ONLY AT THE SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE

Few Australian bands inspire as much love as Sydney post-punk survivors Sunnyboys. Now the original lineup of frontman Jeremy Oxley, bassist Peter Oxley, guitarist Richard Burgman, and drummer Bil Bilson will return to the Sydney Opera House on Sunday 13 December.

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of their legendary debut EP, this one-night-only performance is sure to rekindle some memories – and create plenty of new ones – for lifelong fans and younger generations alike.

Ascendant post-punk stars of almost mythical status, Sunnyboys burst onto the scene in December 1980 with their four track self-titled debut – featuring their signature smash, ‘Alone With You’ – before their break up just four years later appeared to consign them, sporadic resurgences aside, to the rock ‘n’ roll wilderness.

Since the band’s unexpected, emotional reformation in 2012, Sunnyboys have become an unmissable live act known for their searing energy and power to move an audience, consistently delivering a set of classics such as ‘Happy Man’, ‘Love to Rule’ and ‘Show Me Some Discipline’.

We really didn’t think we would ever play again as a band. But wow, we have and we sure are having a bloody great time doing it.” Peter Oxley

The concert in the Joan Sutherland Theatre will mark the release of Sunnyboys 40, pairing their remastered, eponymous debut alongside four new recordings unearthed from the archives of chief songwriter Jeremy Oxley.
