[News] THOMAS KEATING ANNOUNCES ‘BEGIN AGAIN’ SINGLE TOUR 2018

Sydney musician Thomas Keating draws his songwriting inspiration from classic rock and roll luminaries Gareth Liddiard, Nick Cave, The Triffids, and Paul Kelly just to name a few. His debut single ‘Begin Again’ is the perfect example of Keating’s penchant for honest storytelling through his music.

Having spent most of 2017 writing and recording for what will become Keating’s first solo album, due for release in the second half of this year, first taste ‘Begin Again’ was produced by Gordon Burke, with Keating on mixing duties.

Ready to hit the live circuit, Keating and his new band will head back to his hometown area of Newcastle, then Sydney, followed by a short trip down the Hume for their debut show in Melbourne during March. To get you excited ahead of the shows Keating is ready to visually reveal his band in the ‘Begin Again’ video.

Featuring old buddies Jenny McCullagh on violin (I Know Leopard), drummer Tim Parsons, and bassist Gavin Perkins, the video was filmed between Stage Door Studios and a local beach near Sydney airport, when a horse trainer randomly turned for a training session, with his horse aptly named “Urban Keith”, who can be seen in the background footage and also as part of the cover art for ‘Begin Again’ the single.

Directed and edited by Kieran Gilfeather, the video gives you a glimpse into Keating’s live band set up, and his quest for moving forward, on from the personal struggles that one always feels when starting afresh.

I had a great experience making the video with Kieran. Lots of fun to catch up with old friends Jenny and Crum it was really great to have them involved as we have been working together for a while and it helped me to feel comfortable.” – Thomas Keating

To date, between past projects Thieves and Good Counsel, Keating has played sold out shows at The Vanguard, graced stages for Vivid Sydney at The Newtown Social Club, Mountain Sounds Festival and King St Crawl, as well as toured with Oh Mercy and notched up some impressive support slots with Jen Choler, Big Scary, Immigrant Union, and Kevin Divine among others.

Don’t miss Thomas Keating’s intimate performances during March at The Lass O’Growrie in Newcastle, The Factory Floor in Sydney and Melbourne’s The Grace Darling Hotel.
