[Live Review] LIMP BIZKIT (Brisbane)

LIMP BIZKIT

Brisbane, Riverstage
Friday 25th October, 2013 :

American rap-metal superstars Limp Bizkit made a triumphant return to our shores, last night when they played their first ever headline show in Australia at Brisbane’s Riverstage. Whilst the band have been playing for almost 20 years, they have only toured here twice previously, and on both occasions playing festival shows; 2001‘s Big Day Out, and the 2012 Soundwave Festival.

The crowd was geed up to the max for the lads from Bizkit, and when the band appeared on stage, the smiles and screams of excitement, told the stories of dedicated fans, jubilant to be seeing their rap-metal heroes in the flesh. Singer Fred Durst appeared, wearing his trademark Nike shorts and White Hoodie but looked a little different to what was expected; wearing a camo-style bucket hat, that made him look like he was ready to go on a camping or fishing adventure, Down Under. Guitarist Wes Borland, has always been known for some crazy, out-there costumes but this time he had seriously gone above and beyond with his jellyfish inspired creation.

The set kicked off with ‘Pollution’ from their first album, Three Dollar Bill Y’all, and continued with tracks ‘Show Me What You Got’, ‘Bring It Back’, and ‘Hot Dog’, followed by ‘Rollin’ which obviously got the crowd really going. Durst and the boys continued to tear their way through a killer set of songs, both old and new as the night progressed. Other stand out tracks included ‘My Generation’, ‘My Way’, ‘Nookie’ and with the band finishing off their 16 song set with the super groovy and catchy ‘Break Stuff’, Limp Bizkit put on one hell of a live show; a wonderful start to this, their first Australian headline tour.

Love them or hate them, Limp Bizkit proved tonight their importance in metal music. It’s undeniable. Hopefully Limp Bizkit will return to our shores again in the near future. We can safely say that, after tonight’s epic performance, there are certainly many, many Aussie fans of the band who are already counting down the days.
