Ben Abraham, the humble, honest and excellent modern folk artist from Melbourne, has quietly been building international acclaim and adulation for his personal and heartfelt cinematic folk music.

On Friday, March 4 he celebrates the long awaited global release of his debut album Sirens through Inertia Music for Australia and New Zealand, and Secretly Canadian for the rest of the world. Ben then embarks on a whirlwind tour of the US, UK and Europe before heading home to launch the record with intimate live shows right across the country throughout March.

Today, Ben has released a brand new single from the album, Speak. Of the track, Ben reveals: “Speak is my favourite song from the album. The story of a writer wrestling with his muse felt like a more mature subject matter than some of the earlier work I had done. It’s also the perfect showcase of Jono and Leigh’s production. I asked Wally De Backer (Gotye) to help me record the vocals on this particular song because I knew he would help me find the best way to tell the story through my performance. I’m really proud of the work we all did.

With Indonesian Folk-pop star parents, Abraham’s the first to call his journey as a singer songwriter accidental, having picked up guitar when he was working with a foundation at a hospital in Melbourne. Since then, Ben’s vivid and cinematic song writing can be found in collaboration with Ta-Ku, most recently with the stunning WAFIA and with Grammy-nominated artist Sara Bareilles, who labelled Ben one of her “favourite new singer-songwriters”.

His live performances are warm and captivating and should not be missed.
