[News] DASHVILLE SKYLINE 2018 ARTISTS ANNOUNCED

DASHVILLE SKYLINE
Friday September 28 – Sunday September 30, 2018
Labour Day Long Weekend
Belford, Hunter Valley

Australia’s very own Cosmic Country Weekender, Dashville Skyline, returns this September to Dashville and we are excited to announce the first round of acts coming along for the three-day event. It’s a doozy! … and it’s only half of it!

Leading the first announcement of 17 exceptional artists is THE WAIFS, a band 25 years young. Featuring the unmistakable voices of sisters Vikki Thorn and Donna Simpson, this acclaimed, evergreen band will make their Dashville debut this September. Last year’s record Ironbark took the band into dustier Americana territory and, as luck will have it, their travels will finally bring them to our neck of the woods.

C.W. STONEKING is an exceptional songwriter, performer and living anachronism. Since the release of his third full-length album, the ARIA award-winning Gon’ Boogaloo, C.W has become a household name across Australia, the US and Europe. Having first visited Dashville in 2012 for The Gum Ball, he now returns with his unmistakable voice and old-time blues guitar. This is a rare solo performance from one of Americana’s modern superstars. Raw and profound, expect a performance for the ages.

After a barn-storming performance at this year’s Gum Ball festival, the crowd was clear in their assertion that we had to invite HAT FITZ & CARA back for Skyline 2018. Their irresistible marriage of drums and stomping guitar is a must-see.

If you haven’t experience the high-energy blues-laced roots rock of 19-TWENTY, then now’s the time. The hard-touring, 100 per cent independent band will whip the Dashville arena into a full-throttle hoedown. Bring your dancing shoes.

You might recognise the distinctive heady atmospherics of brothers Dan and Joel Crannitch from their days in Leader Cheetah. But now they’ve reunited to form THE SAN SEBASTIAN and released a stunning record called Alive on the Black Sea. The new outfit is indie rock with distinct country influences and dreamy production.

Rounding out the bill is the high-octane folk rock of THE SETTLEMENT, the raucous blues country of PAPA PILKO & THE BINRATS, returning Skyline hero DAVEY CRADDOCK, country songstress TORI FORSYTH, Melbourne’s JAMES ELLIS & THE JEALOUS GUYS, Perth rockers RALWAY BELL, old-school rough country duo THE SWEET JELLY ROLLS, accomplished singer-songwriter and guitarist CAT CANTERI, Brisbane’s gothic-folk chanteuse RUBY GILBERT, Sydney’s favourite songsmith SAM NEWTON, local Hawaiian jazz legends THE HIGH ANDIES and singer and environmentally conscious songwriter STEEL CITY SUE.

Absolutely stoked!” is how we feel about the first portion of acts for Dashville Skyline. We hope that you feel the same way! With another list of artists destined to arrive around the end of July, this year is shaping up to be a beauty. We’re proud to be delivering loads of great acts from all ends of our big brown land this year.

With the next round of artists, we’ll be looking to provide you with the full program of who’s playing what days, so those who need to know, can make a call on whether you come for the whole weekend, or just slip in for a day.. or two.
