[News] RACKETT SHARE NEW EP ‘I PLEASE MYSELF’

Sydney’s all girl riot-pop squad, RACKETT, release their second EP – I Please Myself. Following the success of their single, ‘Tried to Quit’, a stand-out track featured on the EP, with their Sydney single launch ‘SOLD OUT’ and over 500,000 views of the song on Youtube, the band have dropped this chaotic masterpiece to match, which they describe as ‘their best work yet’. With the title track ‘I Please Myself’, offering listeners a new sound for RACKETT, featuring some electronic elements, fusing the band’s signature indie rock sound with an underground club feel reminiscent of the band’s current musical muse, Peaches.

The EP features three new, unreleased songs, singles in their own right; ‘I Please Myself’, ‘Kiss It Better’ and ‘FU’, alongside ‘Tried to Quit’ to create an upbeat, sonic explosion that captures the energy of their acclaimed live show. Bass heavy, layered with super fuzzed out guitars and finished with edgy vocals, the EP is full of attitude and instrumentally detailed. ‘I Please Myself’ is fast, hot and badass af.

Having spent the past few years touring solidly has directly affected the new EP. “Seeing so much live music on the road has helped to carve out what we like and don’t,” explains vocalist Rebecca Callander. “It’s also been useful in test driving the tracks, not to mention improved workflow in the studio having the songs well and truely embedded into muscle memory.”

In reference to the track, ‘Tried to Quit’, “we tried to quit touring, tried to quit buying pedals, buying clothes and eating ice cream but we just can’t do it!“, and to ‘FU’, “Well, I’d love to publish names but that would be too satisfying for these f*ckers, they know who they are. By the time I wrote this I was so pissed off, I couldn’t be f*cked with expressing myself as I have in the past with tactful metaphors. It’s clear and simple – F*ck You!
