Melbourne based colossal roots reggae act Ras Jahknow have just unveiled the novel single ‘What A Gwan’ and to mark the release will be touring Australia’s East Coast.

Originating from the heart of Cape Verde West Africa, Ras Jahknow ushers an innovative reggae style drawing their worldly sound from a variety of countries from Ethiopia, Brazil, Malaysia to Australia.

Tracked by Simon Hood, recorded and mixed by Jason Heerah at the lucrative Heerah St Productions and mastered by U.S based Sterling Sounds’s Will Quinnel, ‘What A Gwan’ bestows the bands iconic sound of rolling bass power melded with melodic sincerity to deliver a prized strain of vintage roots reggae.

Previously released debut-album, Jah Sta Li received national & international praise receiving airplay across Triple J’s ‘Roots & All’ as well as over 150 community radio station programs. Remix release, Jah Sta Li Dub was equally well received running as finalist in the prestigious 2015 The Age Music Victoria Awards: Best Global or Reggae Album category.

Since their inception in 2010 Ras Jahknow have become renowned as one of Australia’s most championed live reggae acts having closed the last ever Antenna Awards (2014) and performing at a plethora of festivals including Strawberry Fields (2015), Tanglewood Festival 2015, African Music & Cultural festival (2015) and many more.
