[News] SYDONIA GETS SAND IN YOUR EYES WITH NEW FILMCLIP, EXTRA TOUR DATES

In a world where bands are aiming to please and to give people an “expected” style of music, Sydonia want to get sand in people’s eyes. They want you to DO SOMETHING. Whatever it is you feel strongly about, get up and fight for it or against it. The song is about suffering in the world and the apathy that people have towards curing it.

SO DO SOMETHING

They 4-piece gave their first taste of album #3 a few weeks ago, with the single becoming available on July 29 in time for the tour to start. It’s heavier, faster and all the passion, the anger and the angst is self-produced into the track.

Their clip for ‘EYES OF SAND’ dropped yesterday at The Music. The 3:31 clip features vocalist Dana Roskvist, as well as footage of war, famine and conflict and epic footage of the band’s live shows from the past two years since the release of Reality Kicks, their second album. Shot by Jaden Dickey (who has done a tonne of work for The Amity Affliction’s live show footage reels) and edited by Jaden and Dana (who are brothers), it feels like Sydonia are heading towards a massive album release and to the stages they play best on… big ones.

A new guitarist was added in late 2015 in Ant Connelly and it sees a harder, faster approach to songwriting – the as-yet-unnamed record seeing some of the band’s heaviest songs to date being laid down, including ‘Eyes of Sand’.

Bassist Adam Murray is more than excited about the new release. “We are so stoked to be back releasing music again, more focused than ever and with a tightened, heavier sound. This filmclip was put together by Dana and his brother Jaden, who has worked on The Amity Affliction’s live videos and more. This is a quick look back on the last 18 months to two years since we released Reality Kicks – this is all footage from that period of time and the live shows we have been doing and we managed to get some footage of Ant in there too. From here on out, our focus is on the future. New Music, new shows, new videos and new heavy as fuck sounds.

Their previous album, Reality Kicks was chosen as one of Lachlan Watt (triple j The Racket)’s best of 2014, played solidly on triple j, Triple M, AndrewHaugRadio and more, did amazing numbers on their Australia-Wide tour and received critical praise at all turns. The four-piece, consisting of Dana Roskvist on Guitars and Vocals, Adam Murray on Bass and Vocals, Ant Connelly on Guitars and Sean Bailey on Drums, are now veterans of the Australian Music scene – but are consistently bringing fresh sounds to what defines ‘heavy’.

Sydonia have released 2 full-length albums and a handful of EPs, toured Australia as a headliner as well as with Slipknot, Stone Sour, Lamb of God, Korn, Machine Head, Between the Buried and Me, Trivium, In Flames, Snot & Hed PE, Dead Letter Circus, Voyager, Caligula’s Horse, Mammal and more, as well as touring the USA as main support to Stone Sour. An army of loyal fans throng to shows and you may even spot a relic of their classic t-shirt design in the crowd – an “I fucked the chick from Sydonia” design from the first album era.

The tour in late July-August takes in Australia’s iconic venues such as Melbourne’s Corner Hotel, Adelaide’s Jive, Brisbane’s Crowbar, Sunny Coast’s Sol Bar and more. They have also added Ballarat’s Karova Lounge to the show list.
