BROODS have today announced their new album Conscious will be released through Island Records/UMA on Friday June 24th and is available for fans to pre-order now from the band’s website. Included on the new album will be lead single ‘Free’ which continues to climb the Australian Radio Charts and is available to download or stream now. Fans who pre-order the album digitally will instantly receive the anthemic first single ‘Free’.

To celebrate the release of their new album, the LA-based, New Zealand duo composed of Georgia and brother Caleb Nott, have unveiled plans to return to Australia for an east coast headline tour in July. Having just wrapped up a series of US arena dates with Ellie Goulding, the Australian run will kick off on July 8th in Brisbane then head to Sydney and Melbourne.

Joining Broods will be Vera Blue and Xavier Dunn.

‘Free’, the first single from Conscious has been streamed more than two million times on Spotify since its release two weeks ago and at its first week at Australian radio was the #1 Most Added Song At Radio and is being supported by alternative and CHR formats. After one week at radio ‘Free’ shot to #11 on the Shazam Chart, ranked Top 20 on iTunes singles chart and as of now, has reached 315,000 streams in Australia alone and growing. The video for ‘Free’, which was directed by Jessie Hill (Chris Cornell, Angus & Julia Stone) and has now reached more than 300,000 views.

Conscious is the follow up to Broods’ 2014 debut album, Evergreen, which contained the singles ‘Bridges’ and ‘Mother & Father’ and charted #1 on the New Zealand album chart, #5 on the Australian ARIA Album Chart and climbed to Top 10 of Billboard’s Alternative Albums chart. Joel Little (Lorde, Sam Smith, Ellie Goulding), who produced Evergreen, serves as executive producer on Conscious, producing many of the tracks. Additional production is by Broods, APRA Award winning Alex Hope (Troye Sivan) and Captain Cuts. The new album features a duet with Tove Lo and a song the band co-wrote with fellow New Zealander Lorde.

The album title succinctly sums up Broods’ approach to creating music. Explains Georgia Nott, “We’re very conscious on what we want to achieve with this album. We’re very conscious of what we want to do and what kind of impact we want to make. At the end of the day, it’s important to have a say over every aspect of your art.”

Thrust into the international spotlight when both members were just barely out of school, the experience of playing big stages around the world had a powerful effect on their songwriting. “After touring for so long, you start realizing which songs you enjoy playing the most and which songs the audience reacts to the most,” says Caleb Nott. “We know more about what we’re up to and that’s definitely influenced the way that we wrote. This album is a punch in the face compared to the last one. Evergreen was very subtle and airy, Conscious really goes for the throat.
